The remarkable journey of Coca-Cola began in May 1886, in Atlanta, Georgia. It was the brainchild of John Pemberton, a pharmacist who concocted the original syrup in a three-legged brass kettle in his backyard. Initially marketed as a "brain tonic" and "intellectual beverage," it was sold at Jacob's Pharmacy for five cents a glass. The name "Coca-Cola" was suggested by Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank M.
